How to choose the right dog muzzle
Not sure which muzzle your dog needs? It comes down to two things: the type of muzzle and getting the right size.
Basket muzzles – best for everyday use
Open, basket-style muzzles (like our Baskerville range) let your dog pant, drink and take treats while wearing them. They're the most humane choice for longer wear, daily walks, training reactive dogs, and warmer days. Ideal if your dog will wear a muzzle for more than a few minutes at a time.
Soft & fabric muzzles – best for quick jobs
Lightweight nylon or mesh muzzles (like our Trixie range) hold the mouth gently closed and are great for short, controlled situations such as nail clipping, grooming or a quick vet check. Because they restrict panting, they are not suitable for prolonged wear, exercise or hot weather.
Getting the size right
A good fit is essential for safety and comfort. Measure your dog's snout length and circumference and check it against the size guide on each product page. The muzzle should be snug but not tight, and your dog should be able to open their mouth slightly to pant. Short-nosed (brachycephalic) breeds usually need a wide-fit or short-snouted style.
