Foran Parazole Cat and Dog Wormer 100ml: easy liquid worming
Parazole is a broad spectrum liquid wormer for dogs and cats containing fenbendazole 100mg/ml (10% w/v oral suspension). It treats roundworms, hookworms and tapeworms, kills roundworm eggs, and is given by mouth or mixed into food, with no starving needed. Suitable for puppies, kittens, adult dogs and cats, and pregnant and lactating animals.
Why Choose Parazole?
- Broad spectrum: effective against roundworms (ascarids, immature and mature stages), hookworms, tapeworms and nematodes of the gut and respiratory tract.
- Kills roundworm eggs: helps break the cycle of reinfection.
- Lungworms: the licence includes a lungworm dosing regimen for cats.
- Easy to give: squirt directly into the mouth or mix into food. No starvation process needed.
- Accurate dosing: 12ml measuring syringe and syringe adapter (bung) supplied in the pack.
- Pregnancy and lactation: can be used in pregnant and lactating dogs and cats.
About the Worms
- Roundworm: many puppies and kittens are born with roundworm, and it can pass to them through their mother's milk.
- Tapeworm: has a segmented appearance. Dogs and cats can pick it up by swallowing infected fleas or rodents.
- Hookworm: much more common in dogs than cats. It can pass through the mother's milk or be picked up from soil where eggs are present. It gets its name because it hooks onto the small intestine.
- Lungworm: can be picked up by eating slugs, snails, frogs and rodents.
Signs of worms include a bloated stomach (usually seen in puppies), weight loss, increased appetite and scratching or rubbing of the rear (this can also be a sign of blocked anal glands). In some cases you may see segments in the faeces, most commonly tapeworm, which look like tiny grains of rice.
Active Ingredient
Each ml contains 100mg fenbendazole. Also contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218) 2.5mg/ml as a preservative.
Dosage
Routine treatment of adult dogs and cats: a single dose of 100mg/kg, equal to 1ml per 1kg bodyweight.
| Bodyweight | Volume of Parazole | |
|---|---|---|
| Adult cat | 2kg | 2ml |
| 4kg | 4ml | |
| 6kg | 6ml | |
| Small dog | 3kg | 3ml |
| 5kg | 5ml | |
| Medium dog | 15kg | 15ml |
| 25kg | 25ml | |
| Large dog | 35kg | 35ml |
| 40kg | 40ml |
Weaned puppies and kittens under six months of age, and lungworm in cats: a single dose daily for three consecutive days at 50mg/kg, equal to 1ml per 2kg bodyweight.
Puppies: treat at 2 weeks of age, 5 weeks of age and again before leaving the breeder's premises. Treatment may also be required at 8 weeks and 12 weeks of age. After that, frequency of treatment can be reduced unless the pups remain in kennels where reinfestation occurs more readily.
Pregnant bitches: 1ml per 4kg bodyweight daily from day 40 of pregnancy continuously for approximately 25 days. This is equal to 25mg fenbendazole/kg bodyweight daily.
Regular treatment is advisable to prevent infection of children by the larvae of ascarids (roundworms) of dogs and cats.
How to Use the Measuring Syringe
- Estimate the bodyweight of the dog or cat accurately to make sure the dose is correct.
- To fit the syringe adapter (bung): push down and unscrew the bottle top. Position the adapter and cap over the bottle opening, push down firmly and screw the cap into position. The adapter should now be flush with the top of the bottle neck.
- Shake the bottle well before use. Push down and unscrew the bottle top. Insert the nozzle of the measuring syringe into the hole in the bung by gently pushing.
- Turn the bottle and syringe upside down. Pull the plunger out until it lines up with the required dose.
- Turn the bottle the right way up and, with a twisting movement, separate the syringe from the bottle.
- Push the plunger to empty the syringe directly into the animal's mouth or onto the food. If giving with food, mix it in well.
- Repeat steps 3 to 6 if a larger dose is needed.
- Replace the bottle top after use.
Safety and Storage
- Wear impermeable gloves when handling the product and wash hands after use. People with known hypersensitivity to fenbendazole or any of the ingredients should avoid contact.
- Do not use in animals with hypersensitivity to fenbendazole or any of the ingredients.
- Avoid underdosing: weigh your pet as accurately as possible.
- Do not freeze. Once opened, use within 6 months.
