The Pawguard 820 is a GPS dog fence that lives entirely on the collar. There's no base transmitter to plug in, no wire to bury, no SIM card and no app or subscription — you set your boundary on the collar itself and it uses satellite positioning to keep track of where your dog is. Setup takes about five minutes.
Once the boundary is set, the collar creates a circular safe zone around that point, anywhere from about 23 metres to over 900 metres in radius — small enough for a modest garden, big enough for a farm. If your dog wanders towards the edge, the collar warns them first, then steps up the correction if they keep going, so most dogs quickly learn where the limit is and turn back on the warning alone. An automatic memory function keeps your settings, so you're not reprogramming it every time it powers off.
Because it's GPS-based, the 820 suits open ground with a clear view of the sky: large gardens, farmland, beaches and campsites. It isn't designed for indoor use or dense woodland, where satellite signal is blocked. The latest-generation GPS chip positions faster and more accurately than earlier models, compensates for weak signal and uses less power. Intelligent scene recognition and layered protection modes guard against over-correction, and the collar is rechargeable and built for outdoor use in Irish weather.
